People in Our Story

>>
Mohammed Hubert Michele

Mohammed Diko
is a Tuareg artisan who regularly drops by the Cope home to sell gorgeous leather and silver crafts. The Tuareg are people of the desert and they come from Mali, Niger, and Mauritania.

Nanfangue Hubert
is a barrel-chested artist who illustrates stationery with bright, joyful paintings. Like many polio survivors, Hubert drives all over the city with a 3-wheeled bicycle powered by his arms.

Michele
was Charlie's favorite tailor. It's astonishing that one can get custom made clothes cheaper than new. Of the pants Michele made for him, Brian says, "They're the best pants I own."
